Spritz Veneziano – the Aperitivo in a 3-2-1 ratio
The Spritz Veneziano is a light Aperitivo made of Prosecco, bitter liqueur and soda. It takes five minutes to make and is based on a simple ratio: 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts bitter, 1 part soda. Plenty of ice in the glass is important. This recipe is for adults only.

Preparation
- Chill the Prosecco, bitter and soda well. Have wine glasses or tumblers ready.
- Fill the glasses generously with ice cubes, up to about two thirds.
- First pour in the Prosecco (3 parts, so 9 cl per glass).
- Then add the Aperitivo bitter (2 parts, 6 cl per glass).
- Top up with a small splash of soda (1 part, 3 cl per glass).
- Stir briefly and gently once so the carbonation is preserved.
- Garnish with an orange slice, an olive if you like, and serve immediately.
- Adults only: The Spritz contains alcohol and is supplied only to adults. Please enjoy it in moderation and responsibly. If you still have to drive or should avoid alcohol for health reasons, choose an alcohol-free variant.
- Order: Prosecco first, then bitter, soda last. That way everything mixes with minimal stirring and the bubbles are preserved.
- Ice: Plenty of ice, in cubes that are as large as possible, slows the melting. The drink stays cold and gets watered down more slowly.
- Choosing the bitter: Orange Aperitivo bitters are usually milder and sweeter, red and dark ones more bitter. Sweetness and bitterness differ by brand.

Frequently asked questions
Which Prosecco suits the Spritz?
A dry Prosecco (Brut or Extra Dry) is the right choice. A very sweet Prosecco quickly makes the drink too sweet together with the bitter.
Is there an alcohol-free variant?
Yes. Alcohol-free sparkling wine or an alcohol-free Aperitivo drink plus soda and an orange slice work similarly. The taste is not identical, however.
How many glasses does a bottle of Prosecco make?
A 0.75-liter bottle is enough for about 8 glasses at 9 cl per glass. The quantity calculator automatically works out the matching bitter and soda.
