Espresso calculator
How much coffee per cup? Choose method, quantity and strength â you get grams, water, grind size, temperature and time. Your selection is stored in the link, so you can share it.
How the calculator works
Common coffee-making rules of thumb serve as a starting point, such as 60 grams per liter for filter and French press (roughly 1:16) and 1:2 for espresso. For the Moka, the amount depends on the basket: it is filled to the rim, and the water goes up to just below the valve. Water that stays behind in the grounds is not deducted. With âMildâ and âStrongâ you shift the amount by about 10 and 15 percent respectively.
These values are a start, not gospel. Bean, roast, water and grinder change the result. Change one variable at a time and make a note of what tastes best to you.
Why weigh?
A spoonful varies a lot with the bean and roast level. A scale with a timer makes your cup repeatable â that is the single biggest step toward better coffee at home.
